What Should We Do?

Both clients and workers are concerned about home visits in the current situation.

Our advice is that wherever possible, workers should attend the house when the occupier(s) are not at home. Of course, this is easier said than done as the majority of clients (and their children) are now at home all day.Windows of opportunity are limited to when occupiers may be out shopping or excercising.

If clients are in the home when the worker attends, we advise to strictly follow the rules of social distancing by keeping at least 2 metres apart from one another at all times. Our cleaners have been instructed to work only in another area of the home from where the client is located (different room), so a bit of shuffling around will be required.

Where clients feel it is not appropriate for their worker to attend at the present time, we suggest temporarily suspending the arrangement between the parties for a period of one month and then review. We recommend that as gesture of retention and goodwill, the client continues to pay the worker at their normal hourly rate up until the time the review takes place.
